Still walking!

I've had the best day today. We spent the night in a shelter at Hungerford train station. I was exhausted so I climbed inside the sleeping bag for an early night. When I woke up, my helper was kind of shivering in a tinfoil blanket. I felt a bit sorry for him, I would have shared the sleeping bag!

We walked along the canal to Newbury. My helper doesn't like me going onto the narrow boats, but they are very exciting. When I saw a boat going through a lock with a black labrador on board, I couldn't resist jumping onboard to say hello.

Newbury was great, I found some good bread crusts there, my favourite! We got on a bus so my helper could buy some new boots at the retail park. He'd been limping a bit and his feet were awful smelly. The workers at the sports shop were very friendly and some of them petted me. We shared a Happy Meal at the retail park, I had the burger. The roll is my favourite bit. Then we got the bus back to Newbury. I love taking naps on buses as the seats are really comfy. On the bus, we saw a sign for Watership Down where the rabbit film was set (my favourite movie) and we also passed Greenham Common.

From there we walked on to Thatcham where my helper got some chips. He gave me a few, along with my can of doggy food. We are still walking and we hope to reach Woolhampton before it gets dark. The weather is lovely and I'm having great fun.

Tomorrow we're hoping to reach Redding and the start of the river Thames. I wonder if there will be narrow boats on the river.

            Love from,

                                 Lamps.
